When I was younger, I figured that when I was older, I’d have this Christian life thing figured out! Now that I am older, I see more accurately how messed up and broken I was and still am. The gap between the life God calls me to live and the one I actually live seems to be growing, but it is not actually growing. The gap seems to grow because I see more accurately how broken and messed up I am.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
Galatians 5:24
Obviously, this is a figurative statement. We don’t have access to Jesus’ cross. At the same time, it is real contemplative action. As I have gotten older, it seems to take me longer to nail my sinful desires to Jesus’ cross and let them die. This time of prayer, reflection is actually filled with grief. We hang on to our sinfulness because they are wrapped up in our desires and passions. It’s a tangled mess, and pulling that apart to let those things die hurts, and oddly even though we want them to die, we can be saddened and filled with joy all at the same time.
Join me this week and nail your sinful passions and desires on the cross and die! On to our prayer requests.
With Variant cases going up across the province, we are starting to see hesitation and even cancellations in group bookings for this fall. Pray that God will provide us great opportunities to serve churches and schools and will provide all we need to do his work.
Sept 11 is our Fundraising Dinner. As we get all our ducks in a row, please pray that this celebration will happen without any issue!
Tomorrow is the last day of Summer Camps. I am so grateful for what God has done in the lives of children, youth, our staff, and all the families who joined us this summer. God is good and faithful. He has done far more than I could have dreamed.
I am so appreciative of your prayers. You play such a key role in the work. Our connection with Christ is essential, why, because there is no ministry apart from Christ. Pray with urgency and expectation. I will chat with you next week.
