One of the older athletes who had been a real loudmouth called over to the boy confronting him, “Hey Tim, why are you not laughing? You are not one of those good Christian boys, are you?” implying that it was the worst possible thing to be! Tim’s dad had signed him up for a sports camp. He didn’t know anyone and was pretty nervous about it all. At the age of 12, he was younger than most and wanted to make a good impression and make a few friends. It was in the change room that the conversation became really crude as the boys tried to one-up each other with their jokes and comments.
For a moment, Tim froze. He was shocked by the teen’s words and that he would come at him so aggressively. Tim looked up; a few stickers and quick-witted jabs broke the silence of the room. Soon a smile came over Tim’s face, and he said with a loud voice, “Yes, I am, I am a Christian, and it sounds like you should join me.” The other athletes started to push and poke fun at the older boy who had confronted Tim.
During that week at the sports camp, Tim had some hard moments, but he was proud to be called a Christian, even if it was when others were making fun of him.
But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!

If you are like me, you have stories similar to Tim’s I wish I always had the same kind of courage as he did. While we all have stories from our past, as Christians, we can celebrate every day the fact that we are known by the name of Christ – we are Christians! Teach your children and grandchildren to be proud of being a Christian – a follower of Christ.
Prayer Requests
On to our prayer requests. Last week we heard the province of Alberta layout their stages for re-opening the province. Let’s continue to pray that it will be safe to run overnight summer camps.
You can also be praying that schools will continue to book the in-school program, and we will be able to support and encourage many students as a result.
Finally, let’s continue to pray for young Christians that they will have the courage to be like Tim, unashamed.
Thanks for praying there is no ministry apart from Christ. Pray with urgency and expectation. I will talk to you next week.
