On Monday we went on a family hike. Originally it was supposed to be a fall hike but as we drove further into the mountains we saw that it was going to be a spectacular winter hike. At one point Tahra, my wife, turned to me and noted that if God can create all of this and make it so unbelievably beautiful then he can help us. She was connecting the reality of being given a huge gift of this beautiful world to God caring about us as individuals and being more than capable!
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
Psalms 121:2
Do you need help? Remember who your creator is? He loves you and has given us the Holy Spirit as our helper! God is our helper – that is awesome.
I have three things that I would ask you to be praying for. First of all, there are many tragedies right now. Recently students from Wetaskiwin were in a car accident. Two passed away and three were injured. There are past staff and recent campers who know these students and are hurting. Pray for the families, friends, teachers and classmates as they grieve.
Please continue to pray that God will provide all we need to continue his work. Pray for finances, energy for the staff and volunteers, and opportunities to serve.
Finally, pray for our staff as things will look a little different this winter. I will be on a 12-week sabbatical during November, December and January. Pray that this time will be good for me and that the other staff will find a good rhythm each week.
Thanks for praying, Remember our help comes from the Lord. There is no ministry apart from Christ. Pray with urgency and expectation. I will chat with you next week.
