Ever wonder how things work? What a Non-Newtonian liquid is? Perhaps the best way to launch an egg across a field?

Have we got the activity for you! Mad Science explores all things curious! Each day an experiment is performed! From uncovering fossils to floating in cardboard boats and everything in between, we take science seriously and fun even more seriously!

Raft Building

Put on your engineer hats as you strategize, design, and assemble your masterpiece. Will you go for a classic raft design or dare to dream up something completely unique? With a bit of imagination and a touch of innovation, the possibilities are endless!

Once your rafts are complete, it’s time to put them to the ultimate test. Launch your creations onto the water, and watch with anticipation as they bob and float. Will they stay afloat or succumb to the waves? It’s a race against time as you paddle towards the finish line, aiming to prove that your raft is the undisputed champion of the sea.

Egg Drop

In this thrilling challenge, you’ll be tasked with protecting a fragile egg from a perilous fall. Picture yourself as an egg engineer, ready to design and construct the ultimate egg-saving contraption. First, gather your team of creative masterminds and brainstorm ingenious ideas. Will you use balloons, parachutes, or maybe even a homemade spaceship? The possibilities are endless!

Once you have your brilliant plan in place, it’s time to gather your materials. Grab some straws, rubber bands, popsicle sticks, and whatever else your imagination desires. Remember, the goal is to create a cushioning contraption that can keep your egg intact.

Fossil Excavation

Equipped with their tools, the young paleontologists begin their quest to unearth the hidden fossils. They carefully dig, brush away dirt, and document their findings in their field journals. The activity encourages children to exercise patience, attention to detail, and scientific observation as they uncover and examine the buried fossils. Once the children have successfully excavated their fossils, they gather around for a group discussion, where they share their discoveries and insights.

Lava Lamps

It’s a bubbly, colorful experiment that’ll transport you straight back to the funky vibes of the ’70s. Learn how to make your own mesmerizing lava lamp using simple household items like water, oil, and Alka-Seltzer tablets. Get ready to turn your room into a lava lamp haven and impress your friends with your DIY lava lamp skills! Groovy, baby!
