This verse sticks out like a sore thumb for me. Even though it is not comparing anyone to Christ, I can’t help but wonder how I reflect the character qualities that lead to this kind of action? This was part of a lesson that Jesus’ disciples needed to learn. Being the greatest, being first doesn’t look all that glamorous in God’s kingdom. Yet I take comfort knowing that Jesus called the suffering that laid before him as bitter. Not everything that we will be doing for Christ will be pleasant, and just because you or I don’t like something doesn’t mean we are failing at it, nor is it a reflection of our hearts. But for us to be like Christ, we continue to lay down our rights and lives to serve others. What is a reflection of my heart is when I look for ways to be seen as “great” in the eyes of others.

I encourage you to sit with this verse today and wrestle with the things that are unpleasant!

This coming week is the AGM for the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada. Please pray for a good online meeting, that God will lead all in attendance and decision-makers will have the discernment to make wise choices on behalf of the ECCC!

We have launched accepting pre-orders for the Anywhere Adventure Kit. Check out our website for details. We are hoping that many will begin and grow in a relationship with Jesus. Pray for this and that families and groups will grow closer together as a result of their time together!

Finally, we will be making some difficult decisions regarding summer camps by June 1, 2020. We are still planning and working to make these happen as usual. Pray that God will guide our decisions as we prepare and that regardless of what summer camps look like, many will enter into a relationship with Jesus.

I appreciate you praying with me. God is doing incredible things. Much of it is unseen. The more we serve, the more opportunities we take advantage of to do his work his way. Remember, there is no ministry apart from Christ. Pray with urgency and expectation. I will talk to you next week.
